Why does traffic decide the build-up?
Because the paver itself only spreads the load; the layers underneath carry it. A car on a home drive puts modest pressure on the surface, while a loaded lorry or a forklift turning on the spot concentrates far more on a small area. If the base and paver are not chosen for the heaviest regular vehicle, the surface ruts where wheels run and around the turning points.
We therefore ask for the heaviest vehicle that will use the area and how often, before suggesting anything. The guide to bases for traffic loads explains the reasoning; load figures are only given where a published standard supports them, which is why we describe the build-up qualitatively here.
What do business and farm entrances usually need?
If you run a workshop, warehouse, agricultural business or any premises with deliveries, the jobs that come up most are listed below. Each falls under our industrial yards and heavy traffic service, with the specification adapted to the vehicles involved.
- Loading aprons in front of roller doors, where lorries reverse and turn
- Yards where vans and cars share the same surface
- Entrances from a road to a farm or business, used by tractors or trailers
- Staff and customer parking beside the premises
- Paths and pedestrian strips separated from vehicle areas
For a large surface, work can be phased so part of the yard stays operational. We agree which zones close when, and where your deliveries are received in the meantime.
And for a home driveway in Antequera?
A private drive follows the standard driveway block paving method: excavation, a compacted granular base, kerbs or a concrete haunch to restrain the edges, a laying bed, the pavers and jointing. If the drive is shared by a group of houses, the communities and shared parking page explains how owners usually decide and how we phase the work.
Antequera is not on the coast; it belongs to the comarca of the same name, which is described on the sister site's Antequera block paving hub. Nearby municipalities such as Mollina, Humilladero and Fuente de Piedra are on our areas page.
What rules apply to paving works in Antequera?
Under Andalusian law (Law 7/2021, LISTA, article 138.1.a), minor works of limited scope that do not need a project go through a responsible declaration; which procedure a given job falls under in Antequera is decided by the current municipal ordinance, so ask the town hall before work starts. Works on public land or a kerb need separate authorisation. Debris is handled under Royal Decree 105/2008 and Law 7/2022 on waste, and typical codes when lifting paving include 17 01 01 for concrete and 17 05 04 for soil and stones.
Royal Decree 1627/1997 sets minimum health and safety provisions for construction works, which matters on a working yard where staff and vehicles move around the site. Cost depends on area, base condition and access; see per-m² prices on our price site. Send us a photo and the approximate m² – free, no-obligation quote.
Frequently asked questions
Can block paving take lorry traffic?
Yes, when the base, edge restraint and paver are chosen for it. Industrial and loading areas use a deeper base and thicker interlocking pavers than a home drive. We specify the build-up from the heaviest regular vehicle and its frequency, not from the area alone.
What information do you need for a yard quote in Antequera?
Photos of the yard and entrances, the approximate area, the heaviest vehicles that use it and how often, where they turn, and whether the yard must stay operational during works. A site plan, if you have one, is very helpful.
Can the yard stay in use while you pave it?
In most cases partly. We divide the surface into zones and complete them in sequence, so deliveries continue in the zones not being worked. The order is agreed in writing with you, including where lorries unload in each phase.
Is interlocking double-T paving suitable for industrial areas?
It is a common choice for yards because its shape locks adjacent pavers together against turning and braking forces. Whether it is the right format for your site also depends on the base, edging and appearance you want, which we discuss on the visit.
Do you pave farm entrances from the road?
Yes, on the private side. The entrance from a road to a farm or business often carries tractors and trailers turning in, so it needs a robust base and kerbs. Any work on the public road side needs separate authorisation from the relevant administration.
Which comarca does Antequera belong to?
Antequera belongs to the comarca of the same name, together with Alameda, Casabermeja, Fuente de Piedra, Humilladero, Mollina, Sierra de Yeguas and Villanueva de la Concepción. We cover all of them, along with the rest of the province.
Who handles the permit for works on business premises?
The property owner or business does. We execute the paving and do not draft projects or permit applications. If the scope seems to require a technical project, we say so before quoting, so you can involve a technician first.
What happens to the waste from lifting an old yard surface?
It is separated where possible and taken to an authorised facility. Concrete, mixed rubble and soil have their own European waste codes, and the quote lists removal and disposal separately so you can see that part of the cost.
Do you also do private driveways in Antequera?
Yes. Home drives, garage entrances and parking pads are paved with the standard driveway method. Send photos and the approximate area, and mention what vehicles use the drive so the base can be matched to them.
Is safety planned on a working yard?
Yes. Spanish construction safety rules apply with or without a project, and on a working yard we separate the work zone from staff and vehicles, agree routes for deliveries and keep the active area fenced off until it can be driven on.
