What sort of properties do we pave for in Vélez-Málaga?
Two broad kinds. In the town and the coastal settlements, the request is usually a drive, a parking space in front of a house or the approach to a garage, handled through our driveway block paving service. Where a house or finca stands on its own plot with a longer approach, the work is closer to an estate entrance and follows villa and finca access.
We do not assume which kind you have from the area name. A house in a coastal settlement may have a long private drive, and a property in an outlying area may only need a parking pad by the gate. The photos you send decide the approach.
In the coastal settlements, a frequent request is a hard-standing in front of the house where a car can be parked off the street, sometimes combined with a gate. That is a small job in area, yet it still needs a proper base, a fall away from the front door and a clean edge where it meets the public footway.
Can a gravel or earth track be turned into paving?
Often, at least on the sections that suffer most. Many owners do not pave a whole track but concentrate on the stretch by the gate, any steep length where gravel washes away, and the parking and turning area at the house. That keeps the job proportionate while removing the parts that need regular attention.
The key issue on a former track is the edge. Without a firm kerb or concrete haunch, block paving laid next to soil or gravel will spread sideways under wheels. Our edge restraint guide explains the options, and for steep sections the sloping drives service adds the extra restraint and drainage those need.
Which settlements of Vélez-Málaga do we cover?
All of them, including those listed below from sourced population entities. Listing a settlement says nothing about local ground or the houses there.
- Coastal settlements: Torre del Mar, Caleta de Vélez, Benajarafe, Chilches, Almayate, Mezquitilla, Lagos
- Other entities: Trapiche, Cajiz, Triana, Valle-Niza
- The town of Vélez-Málaga itself
Vélez-Málaga belongs to the Axarquía comarca. The sister site's Axarquía block paving hub covers the other Axarquía municipalities, and every town we serve is on our list of areas.
What should owners abroad know before starting?
That the job can be organised remotely. We are based in Marbella and serve the whole province; for Axarquía jobs we agree a site-visit date with you or a local contact, then confirm the scope in writing. During the works you receive photos of each stage, and any decision we need from you is sent by email in English.
Paperwork depends on the job: the procedure for outdoor paving in Vélez-Málaga is set by the current municipal ordinance, which the town hall confirms, and any work on public land or a kerb needs its own authorisation. If the existing surface is concrete that is sound but tired, concrete renovation may be an alternative; cost factors are on our price site. Frequently asked questions
Do you cover Torre del Mar and Caleta de Vélez?
Yes. We work throughout Vélez-Málaga, including Torre del Mar, Caleta de Vélez, Benajarafe, Chilches, Almayate, Mezquitilla and Lagos, as well as Trapiche, Cajiz, Triana, Valle-Niza and the town itself.
Can you pave only part of a long track to my finca?
Yes, and it is a common choice. Owners often pave the entrance by the gate, any steep stretch and the parking area near the house, leaving straighter, flatter sections as they are. We help you decide which sections justify paving.
Why do pavers next to gravel spread over time?
Because nothing holds them in. Block paving relies on a firm edge to stay locked; without a kerb or concrete haunch, the outer rows creep outwards under wheels and the joints open. That is why edging is part of every quote on a former track.
You are based in Marbella. Do you really work in the Axarquía?
Yes. All six of our websites are run by the same autónomo based in Marbella, and the service area is the whole province of Málaga. Site visits in the Axarquía are arranged on agreed dates, and the job is planned in writing in advance.
How do lorries reach a property up a narrow track?
If a full-size lorry cannot get in, material is delivered to the nearest suitable point and moved on with smaller plant. We check the track on the site visit, or from your photos, and build the logistics into the quote so there are no surprises.
Can the turning area be paved differently from the drive?
Yes. Many owners use a different pattern or colour for the parking and turning area to mark it out. The turning area also takes more twisting from tyres, so we choose a format and pattern that interlocks well there.
Do I need a permit to pave a track on my land?
It depends on the scope, the land classification and the Vélez-Málaga ordinance in force, which has to be checked case by case. We execute works and do not draft projects; if a job looks like it needs a technical project, we tell you before quoting.
What happens to the existing gravel?
Depending on its condition, some may be reused as fill below the new base or for other parts of the plot, and the rest is removed. We discuss the options on the visit; any waste is taken to an authorised facility.
Can you install drainage across the track?
Yes. On sloping tracks, cross channels or interceptors stop water running the full length and washing out joints. Their position depends on the gradient and where water can be discharged on your own land, which we assess on site.
Which photos are most useful for a track or finca entrance?
A view from the gate, one from the house back towards the gate, close-ups of any washed-out or rutted sections, and a photo of the turning area. Add rough length and width, and note whether a lorry can reach the gate.
