Paving driveways and shared parking across Mijas

In shortMijas splits into very different settings: the village of Mijas Pueblo, the coastal strip of Mijas Costa with La Cala, El Faro, Riviera del Sol and Sitio de Calahonda, and inland areas such as Las Lagunas, Valtocado and Campo Mijas. We pave private drives, garage entrances and community parking in all of them, adapting access and phasing to whether you own a standalone house or share a complex.

Why does Mijas need more than one approach?

Because the municipality covers both the village of Mijas Pueblo and a long coastal and golf-side stretch, the same request can mean quite different jobs. In a narrow village setting, the question is often how material reaches the site at all. In a large residential complex, it is usually who approves the work and how many parking spaces can be closed at once.

For a standalone home, we normally start from the driveway block paving service. If you share parking with neighbours in a community, the car parks and communities page explains how we phase work so that part of the spaces stay in use. For entrances that drop steeply to a garage, see sloping driveways.

Which Mijas areas are included?

We cover the entire municipality. The sourced sub-areas below help you check quickly; listing a name does not imply anything about properties or ground conditions there.

  • Mijas Pueblo and Las Lomas de Mijas
  • Mijas Costa: La Cala de Mijas, El Faro, Riviera del Sol, Sitio de Calahonda, Cerros del Águila, El Chaparral
  • Golf and inland residential areas: Mijas Golf, Valtocado
  • Las Lagunas and Campo Mijas

Mijas is part of the Costa del Sol Occidental comarca; the sister site's regional block paving hub covers materials and bases across it. Towns beyond Mijas are on our areas page.

How do access and deliveries shape the plan?

Access is the first thing we check, before colour or pattern. Pavers arrive on pallets and the base material arrives loose; both need somewhere to be unloaded and a route to the work area. On a tight village plot or a shared complex road, that may mean smaller deliveries, hand barrowing or an agreed unloading slot with the community.

Tell us in your first message whether a lorry can stop outside, whether there is a gate width limit, and whether neighbours share the access road. Photos of the street and the entrance answer most of these questions and avoid a quote that later needs changing.

Who has to agree before work starts?

If the paving is yours alone, you decide; if it is a common element of a complex, the owners' meeting does. The Horizontal Property Law (Ley 49/1960) requires a meeting resolution under article 17, and the administrator can confirm the precise majority for your job. The town hall procedure for outdoor paving in Mijas is the one in its current ordinance, which the council confirms on request.

Our guide for communities of owners lists what administrators typically ask for: a description of the work, the phasing, how residents keep access, and how debris leaves the site.

What if the drive only needs fixing or freshening up?

We say so. Pavers that rock or have open joints are usually a loose paver repair, and a sound but dull concrete drive can be renovated through the concrete painting service. Cost factors and per-m² figures sit on our price site. Send us a photo and the approximate m² – free, no-obligation quote.

Frequently asked questions

Do you work in Mijas Pueblo as well as on the coast?

Yes. We cover Mijas Pueblo, Las Lomas de Mijas, the coastal areas such as La Cala and Calahonda, and inland zones like Las Lagunas and Valtocado. In the village, we check delivery access early because it shapes how the job is organised.

Can a lorry deliver to a narrow village street?

Sometimes not. Where a full delivery cannot reach the door, material is brought in smaller loads or moved by barrow from the nearest unloading point. Photos of the street and entrance let us plan this before quoting rather than discovering it on the first day.

Our complex wants to repave the shared parking. How do we start?

Ask the administrator to request a quote with photos and an approximate area, then table it at an owners' meeting. We provide a written scope and a phasing proposal so owners vote on a concrete plan and know how many spaces close at any time.

Is Sitio de Calahonda in Mijas or Marbella?

Sitio de Calahonda belongs to Mijas. It matters for paperwork, because the procedure for any works is set by the town hall of the municipality where the property is located, not by the nearest postal address or urbanización name.

What paver formats suit a drive in a residential complex?

That depends on traffic and the look of the existing paving. Interlocking formats lock well under turning cars, while rectangular or multi-size formats suit a more residential appearance. We suggest options once we have seen the space and what drives over it.

Can you pave around manholes and service covers?

Yes. Covers are cut in neatly and the surrounding pavers are set to the right level. If a cover frame itself is loose or sunk, we flag it, as the utility or community may need to deal with the frame before the new paving goes down.

Do I need a licence for a driveway in Mijas?

Possibly. Under Andalusian law, minor works without a project usually go through a responsible declaration, but which procedure applies to a given paving job in Mijas depends on the municipal ordinance currently in force, so ask the town hall before booking a start date.

Can work be scheduled around holiday lets?

Yes, if you tell us your booking gaps. We plan the noisy and access-blocking stages, such as excavation and compaction, for periods without guests and confirm the order of work in writing so your manager can brief cleaners or arrivals.

Will you remove the old surface?

If the old paving or concrete has to come out, we lift it and take the debris to an authorised facility. Disposal is shown as a separate line in the quote so you can see how much of the cost relates to demolition rather than new paving.

How do I send you information about my Mijas property?

Use the contact form or WhatsApp with a few photos, the rough square metres, the area name and what drives over the surface. English is fine throughout, and we reply with questions or a first estimate depending on how clear the pictures are.
